Finland

Lockheed Martin is delighted to be expanding its partnership with Finland, both in air and land capabilities.

Air Force Programs
In 2010, Lockheed Martin was awarded a four-year contract to supply the Finnish Air Force with an airborne surveillance system for enhanced intelligence and reconnaissance capabilities. A Lockheed Martin led-team will modify an EADS CASA C-295 turboprop aircraft to accommodate the advanced system and allow for easy future upgrades to support evolving mission needs. Ground stations will also be provided, with communications terminals to support the airborne system.

The strong team for this program includes Patria Oy, Rockwell Collins, DRS Technologies, Applied Signal Technology, AdamWorks, and L3 Communications. In addition to this core team, Lockheed Martin is working closely with Finnish Industry to maximize industry participation ensuring national autonomy to maintain the payload as well as advancing Finnish technical capabilities.

Army Programs
Having already used MLRS products for four years, the Finnish Army awarded an upgrade of 22 M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System launchers in May 2011. The upgrade will allow Finland to incorporate the Universal Fire Control system and enable the launchers to fire precision GPS-guided munitions for the first time. Finland will be able to use the full range of MLRS precision munitions, including the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) Unitary. The enhanced launcher can be transported to and from conflicts using NATO cargo aircraft.

Lockheed Martin is also working closely with Patria on a demonstration of modular vehicles that could be used for the modernization of various tactical land vehicles.
